Tender No. S/MKE/17/2011-2012 The Kuwait Cancer Center project will be located in Sabah area and cover an area of 2.1 million square feet. The cancer center's main functions will be for diagnosis to complement an existing hospital for cancer treatment. The facility is expected to be one of largest in the world. It will include over 600 inpatient beds, six linear accelerators for radiation therapy, an emergency department, operating rooms, treatment rooms, nurses' stations, doctor's offices, pharmacy and other spaces. A connecting multistory parking garage will accommodate more than 1,300 cars. The building shall also incorporate inpatient and outpatient facilities. The outpatient functions will be zoned in the west building - closest to the building entry and parking garage for easy access. Horizontal connections allow direct access to imaging and intervention functions in the east building. Inpatient beds will be located in the east side of the building. A pre-tendering meeting will be held at 10:00 AM on May 15, 2011 at office of the Ministry of Health. Enquiries and reservations regarding the tender should be submitted within two weeks from the date of announcement of tender, otherwise they will be disregarded. The national manpower rate certificate, issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labour shall be valid for one year and to be submitted with the submittal of the offer. Bid bond is KD 4,300,000. 

Construction works are progressing and completion expected by December 2023.

 

As part of the periodic follow-up of health development projects, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health paid a visit to the new Kuwait Cancer Control Center project in the Al-Sabah Specialized Medical District and reviewed the percentage of completion of work and the expected date of the center’s opening. This medical project is being built on an area of 65,000 square meters. It consists of 3 buildings, in addition to attached kitchen and laundry facility, and a multi-storey car parking building to accommodate 1,950 cars.

 

The Client has recently obtained preliminary approvals from the Central Agency for Public Tenders, regarding the extension of the contract for the design, construction, medical equipment, furnishing and operational maintenance of the Kuwait Cancer Control Center project, for a period of 13 months, starting from January 23, 2022, until February 22, 2023.

 

MEP & internal finishing works are in progress on this scheme. Project is expected to be completed by end of 2021.

 

Facade and glass works are currently in progress on this scheme.

 

Structural, MEP and internal works are in progress. The project is expected to be completed in September 2019.

Construction works are still underway on this scheme. The Center, which is located on an area of 227 square meters, has operating theaters, wards and medical laboratories equipped with latest state-of-the-art technology. The center has a capacity of 618 beds and a multi-parking building to accommodate about 1,950 cars. The quality of the facade selected for the center is distinguished with features of sustainability, endurance and the ability to absorb noise and ensure the comfort of patients. The project is expected to be handed over in April 2019.

It is understood that construction works have not yet commenced on this development. 

US' KJWW Engineering Consultants has been appointed to provide engineering design services on this scheme. KJWW will provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology design along with some structural design. 

Alghanim International, on behalf of the client, has commissioned NBBJ and Gulf Consult to undertake the design of this new hospital. 

CTC has approved an estimated $617.5-million contract to local Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting on this scheme. CTC approval is the last step before a formal contract is made. 

Nine groups have submitted bids for the main construction contract. A joint venture of local Bayan National Trading Company and Turkey's Ozge & Limak is understood to be the lowest bidder at $545 million, followed by a joint venture of Kuwaiti Manager Real Estate Projects Management Company and Spain's Becsa at $604 million. The third lowest bid has been submitted by local Alghanim International General Trading & Contracting at $618 million. 

Client has further extended the deadline to submit bids for the main construction contract from the previous deadline of December 27, 2011.
